Gracie Farms is a family owned farm located in East Texas that is founded on tradition and family. We came together to create this branding for the farm for apparel and publications.

The logo that was created is based on a nordic illustration of a boot spur to tie in the farming and ranching roots to the property name. The spur has a stag antler through the loop of the leather boot strap in the same illustration style. This historic and detailed logo is far from what is typical in today's minimalist clean design that we typically see in most logos and this is for a reason. The art style is done intentionally to shed crack in to the character of the family and the property itself. The illustration is far from perfect and so is Gracie Farms, but that is what makes both just right. The imperfections create character and tells a story of what the farm represents.

It was important for the apparel to reflect the values of the family and farm. The owner of the farm is a outlaw biker at heart who enherited this farm from his father who loved old english illustrations and design. Gracie Farms activities include some hunting and ranching, but it is known for the leisure times in “The Pub”. The combination of this illustration of the historic ranch imagery and the typeface of an old english style font meshes together to represent the identity of the farm itself.

This farm would not be possible without the founder and proprietor of Gracie Farms. Mr. Nolan has travelled the world and packs enough stories to fill an entire library in Cambridge. His travels, old soul, and love for old England and Winston Churchill inspired me to take on a side project for his as a personal gift from myself to him. The idea of an old english crest and shield design instantly came to mind with details of what he holds closest to his heart.

This collection features historic illustrations of his favorite animals being his best friend dog, Riley. On the opposite side of Riley is a stag which the farm is known to be full of. The bottom of the banner features his favorite flower, roses and their thorns. The shield includes some of the main graphics of the new identity of the farm as well as a historic cross to recognize his faith and beliefs. Nolan always says one thing on the farm, “We are going to eat like Kings!” so capping his personal design it was just right to give him a crown for the king himself. There are three fleur-de-lis adorned across the crown which symbolize the family's roots to the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. This project was one that means a lot to me because Mr. Nolan happens to be my grandfather and the “outlaw biker at heart” happens to be my father. These designs will live in our family forever and I cannot wait to share this with my lineage for years to come.
